Doyle Bramhall II
Event on 2017-12-31 21:00:00
with Emily Gimble, Lou Ann Barton, DJ Mahealani
Doyle Bramhall II is one of the most distinctive vocalists, guitarists, composers and producers in contemporary music. Indeed, none other than Eric Clapton, with whom Bramhall has worked with for more than a decade, lauds him as one of the most gifted guitarists he has ever encountered. As the son of the late Texas music legend Doyle Bramhall, he was raised in a home filled with the blues and rock n roll styles indigenous to Texas. The elder Bramhall played drums and was also an accomplished songwriter and vocalist, not to mention a lifelong collaborator with childhood friends Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan, who composed such SRV signature tunes as Change It and Life by the Drop. But the younger Bramhalla rare and distinctive guitarist who plays left-handed, but with his instrument strung for a right-hander and flipped backwards–had his own connections with the Vaughan brothers: Early in his career he was befriended and supported by Stevie. When he was 18, Bramhall was recruited by Jimmie to play with the Fabulous Thunderbirds. After Stevies tragic death in 1990, Bramhall II and Charlie Sexton formed the Arc Angels with Stevie Rays fabled Double Trouble rhythm section of drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon. The Arc Angels self-titled debut album yielded such widely popular songs as Living in a Dream and Sent by Angels before disbanding. Introducing himself as a solo artist in 1996 with Doyle Bramhall II, he followed with a pair of critically acclaimed albums, Jellycream (1999) and Welcome (2001). It was then that Bramhalls unparalleled guitar mastery won the attention not only of Clapton but Pink Floyds Roger Waters, who showcased him on his 1999, 2000 and 2002 In the Flesh concert tours and companion CD and DVD.Clapton, meanwhile, came next. He featured Bramhall songs and guitar as part of his Grammy-winning Riding with the King album with B.B. King, also of 2000. He then recruited him full-time, and they toured together worldwide, thrilling fans with their dramatic guitar interplay and drawing comparisons to past Clapton triumphs such as Derek & the Dominoes. Claptons ensuing 2004 albums Me and Mr. Johnson and Sessions for Robert J both showcased stirring Clapton-Bramhall guitar duets recorded in the same Dallas room where Robert Johnson recorded his classic blues songs in 1937. Bramhalls own songwriting talent was highlighted in Claptons Reptile (2001), Back Home (2005) and The Road to Escondido(2006) albums, and he later co-produced Clapton (2010) and Old Sock (2013). In 2013 he again joined Clapton on his 50th anniversary tour and played on his 2014 album The Breeze: An Appreciation of JJ Cale.In addition to his work with Clapton, Bramhall became an in demand composer, guitarist and producer. He enjoyed high profile collaborations producer, with a broad range of other major artists, including T-Bone Burnett, Elton John, Gary Clark, Jr., Gregg Allman, Dr. John, Robert Randolph, Allen Toussaint, Billy Preston, Erykah Badu, Questlove, Meshell Ndegeocello and Sheryl Crow, for whom he contributed songs and produced 100 Miles from Memphis (2011) and performed on her tour supporting it. In 2015 he teamed with ace Allman Brothers Band guitarist Derek Trucks (with whom he was proclaimed The New Guitar Gods by Guitar Worldwhen both served in Clapton's band in the late 2000s) in the Tedeschi Trucks Band, also starring Trucks wife Susan Tedeschi. Bramhalls songs and guitar playing have graced each of the three, critically acclaimed Tedeschi Trucks Band albums issued to date. With all this outside activity, Bramhall hadnt made a solo album since Welcome. But besides honing his skills as a producer, he had stockpiled for himself songs apart from those written for others, and when they were selected and sequenced for his fourth solo album, Rich Man, (scheduled for release on September 30, 2016 via Concord Records), they documented an intensive spiritual and musical journey that took him to the other side of the world in search of new sounds, and an inner peace sought following the death of his father in 2011.In the four years following his fathers death he had extensively explored India and Northern Africa, these trips being manifest on Rich Mans inclusion of the North Indian classical bowed string instrument sarangiplayed by virtuoso Ustad Surjeet Singhand the bowl-shaped Arabic oud lute, played by Bramhalls own oud teacher Yuval Ron, the renowned Israeli composer-player-arranger.Also appearing on Rich Man is Norah Jones, with whom Bramhall had been performing with every six months or so in a concert series. The duet New Faith was emblematic of the entire album in its hope that people can look beyond all that divides them and find a new way of thinking that enables peaceful progress through mutual respect and understanding.Rich Man, then, is a watershed achievement for Bramhall, both in terms of the many music styles in the trackswhich begin and end with his fundamental American blues influences and in between follow his global music explorations and arrangementsand the inner examinations resulting in the spiritual growth expressed in the lyrics.I read a quote from Charles Mingus, Bramhall stated upon the completion of Rich Man. He felt like he was not playing his music as much as creating the sound of his life and experiences through the medium of his music. I looked at his life and related to that, and tried to capture the same thing on the album.

After investing in a Droid docking station, I discovered that the protective case I had for my Droid 2 made it pretty much impossible to dock my phone. If you are into the latest gadgets for your new phone, you want to get something that will give you lasting protection. What I discovered was a product that not only does that, but also allows me to use my docking station effortlessly!

Most of the screen protectors that are available are bulky and can cost a pretty penny as well. I liked that my phone was well protected from drops and knocks, and probably will continue to use it in the right situation. However, I had bought a Droid docking station and now was faced with a problem. The case I used was too wide to fit the docking station. This lead me to search out something that would side step this big problem. This was important because I use the station not only as my bedside alarm clock and recharger, but also bought a second one for work for my desk. Since I am on the go, it was nice to know that I could dock my phone, where it could instantly recharge, and then make use of it in a variety of ways.

After some searching for a Droid screen protector, I uncovered an inexpensive product that would not only protect my phone, but actually is thin enough that still allows me to use my Droid docking station. I can be pretty clumsy with my phone, and I wanted something that would be up for the ride, so to speak. The Realook Droid screen protectors seemed to be up for the challenge.

The crystal clear film that comprises the Realook screen protector was a real selling point for me. I read about other thin screen protectors that caused blurring or even nasty reflections making it hard to read. Once applied, the screen remained crystal clear and gave me an instant sense of ease, knowing my phone was protected. Now, my first attempt to get the screen protector in place was less than perfect, but because they are reusable, I was able to quickly re-align the film. I really liked the fact that they come with a anti-fingerprint coating too.

Depending on the phone you have, Droid, Droid X or Droid II, there is a difference in what is available, so make sure you get the one that is suited for your phone. I recommend that if you are considering a Droid docking station, that you look into getting a Realook screen protector for added durability.

Cell phones are expensive investments, and providing protection should be a no-brainer. For a few dollars, you too can get a Droid screen protector that will provide superior scratch protection for your Droid phone.

I have details on the Realook screen protectors as well as some others for you to consider through my website, http://droiddockingstation.com.

casablanca hotels

Because of so much hotels in the largest city in in Australia, Sydney, making a choice is very difficult. Every year, Harbourside location attracts thousands of holidaymakers in the world, of course, it isn’t any surpsing when finding many hotels dotted aroundthe shores of the harbour.

On the other hand, there are plenty of other alternative accommodation styles awaiting you in leafy suburban locations that provide a cheaper alternative whilst at the same time giving you access to public transport or easy drives to many of the city’s tourist destinations.

Here, we are going to take a look at some of the most popular hotels as well as some of the more unusual accommodation options you may not have thought of, including some backpacker locations.

In the CBD, it is hard to find a better location than Circular Quay. The Circular Quay Hotel is a luxury experience waiting for you to enjoy. Choose a harbour view room and you will enjoy unparalleled views across the busy Circular Quay as well as stunning views out to the heads.
For more boutique style accommodation you can always try the Devere Hotel. This is situated in Potts Point only a 15 to 20 minute walk from the city. Although it does not have the location enjoyed by five-star hotels, this 3 1/2 star hotel is convenient for any type of traveller with public transport available virtually at the door. There are also dozens of restaurants and cafes within a few minutes walk.
The Jolly Swagman Backpackers in King’s Cross has an enviable reputation as being one of the friendliest backpacker destinations on the east coast. Always popular, the cheap beds and spotlessly clean rooms make this almost a must stay for backpackers.
The inner-city suburb of Newtown has some amazing guesthouses that will delight you. At Cavendish is one such place that has been extensively renovated in a Victorian fashion and provides a great alternative to other styles of accommodation close to the CBD.
If you are looking for a more relaxing beach holiday, Sydney has more beaches than most capital cities in Australia located right on its doorstep. Bondi Beach is probably the most famous in Australia and the range of accommodation options here are truly amazing. Why not take a look at the Bondi Beach holiday house right in the heart of Bondi itself. You can enjoy a beach holiday and the sophistication of the big city all in one location.
Located at the northern end of Sydney’s beach district is Palm Beach. This is a fabulous village style beach with its own unique feel and is located just a short drive from Pittwater. This is a popular destination with Sydneysiders especially the bed-and-breakfast accommodation, none more so than Villa Bresciana. This is a charming house is only a few minutes stroll from the beach and is very reasonably priced for the style of accommodation provided.

As you can see, the variety of accommodation in Sydney will suit any budget, all you have to do is shop around and you are certain to find what you need.
