Question by James: What is the difference between a Soiree wine aerator and a Vinturi wine aerator?
I am looking at buying a wine aerator and have narrowed down my choice to either a Soiree wine aerator or Vinturi wine aerator. Can anyone tell me the differences between these wine aerators? Thanks

Best answer:

Answer by ursula
I personally prefer the Soiree wine aerator, as it is less Star Trekky looking. However they both do fine jobs airing wine, and I wish you all the best in your decision.

Question by ~*:HeartShapedGlasses:*~: What’s the difference between chianti and pinot noir?
They are both red wines, but what’s the difference in taste? How can they be paired with meals? Thanks!

Answer by olderwiser100a
chianti is a cheaper red wine, generally served with pasta dishes. to me it has a more acidic taste than other red wines. pinot noir is a smoother red, and can be paired with most meat dishes.

POISON – READ LABEL

Totally different alcohol. Beer is grain alcohol and rubbing alcohol is wood alcohol. ethyl and methyl

Rubbing alcohol is POISONOUS and will make you go blind if it does not kill you.

A tour in Tuscany between country and Middle Ages

If you are looking for the ancient and deep origins of italian culture, if you are looking for peace, for a mysterious atmosphere of ancient Etruscans, if you are looking for an unrepeatable landscape, here is your two days tour in Tuscany.

Chianti – Colle Val d’elsa – Volterra – San Gimignano

Starting in the morning with a rental car, you leave Florence and you take the Chiantigiana road (SS222).
Immediately you see the “green”of the unmistakable tuscan hills so famous for wine: the Chianti.
In 40 minutes you arrive in the heart of tuscan countryside and you meet small towns like Greve in Chianti or Panzano.

]]>

There you can find some typical products as the excellent olive oil or the famous red wine.

In 50 minutes you arrive to the next stop: Colle val d’Elsa.
It is highly suggested to have lunch in “high” part of the town, and to take “via del Castello” to see squares and palaces of Middle Ages and Renaissance.

Take the SS68 and in half an hour you arrive in Volterra, the etruscan city where you can spend the night.
In the old pedestrian city center you can have dinner in a special atmosphere.
The second day we suggest you to discover the city: from the Medicean fortress to the walls of XIII century, from the alabaster artisans to San Giovanni square with the cathedral, the baptistery and the ancient hospital.

In the afternoon, before returning to Florence you take the SS68 again, and you can go towards San Gimignano, which is 30 minutes away.
You can not finish your tour in Tuscany without visiting this medieval old town characterized by high towers and important church of its glorious past.

Your trip ends returning with the road which pass through San Casciano, to enjoy the golden hills at the sunset light, before you arrive to the urban florentine reality.

Mary is ecstatic when she finally gets her Learner’s permit, but none of her siblings like the idea of driving with her. In an attempt to avoid riding to school with her, Lucy and Simon face even bigger problems as first-time bus passengers. Elsewhere, Matt bonds with a pregnant teenager whose issues extend way beyond just trying to steal his car, and Eric counsels a grieving woman who desperately wants to know who received her late son’s organs. Most of the Camden kids start expressing embarrassment about their overly lovey-dovey parents, but the joke will soon be on them.

Sweet Red Wine vs. Dry Red Wine: The Difference Between Them

There is a big difference between dry red wine and sweet red wine. The difference is confusing at times. This article provides a definition of the two and more information on those wines in between.

During the wine making process, sugar is converted into alcohol. The amount of residual sugar left in the wine during the wine making process is what determines its level of sweetness.

This puts sweet and dry red wine on the opposite ends of the residual sugar wine spectrum. It also means that if a wine is sweet, it can’t be dry. If a wine is dry, it can’t be sweet.

]]>

Wines with around 5 to 30% residual sugar are considered sweet wines. Wines with around 3 to 5% residual sugar are referred to as medium or semi sweet red wine. Dry wines have residual sugar of only 1 to 2%.

Since many wines are fruity, they are sometimes confused with sweet wines. However, this is just the intensity of the fruit in the wine as a fruity red wine can be either sweet or dry. It just depends on the amount of residual sugar in the wine.

Where Does Dessert Wine Fit In?

There is also confusion around sweet red wine vs dessert wine. Some people think they are the same, but there is a difference between the two. Port, sweetened Sherries and late harvest wines are different types of dessert wines.

Most of dessert wines have higher alcohol content than regular sweet red wine and just a touch of sweetness. The official regulation in the US is that a dessert wine is any wine that is between 14 and 24% alcohol.

More and more drier wines are falling into the technical definition of a dessert wine. Since they have a little less sweetness, they also won’t interfere with any of the sweetness in your actual dessert.

Jill Loeffler has more information on sweet red wine and dry red wine on her web site at AllAboutRedWine.

Question by Pollywog: What’s the difference between baking soda, bicarbonate of soda, and washing soda?
I hear them use these different terms on “How Clean Is Your House” on BBCA, to mix them into either water, washing up liquid (dish soap) or vinegar for cleaning different things around the house.
Is plain old Arm & Hammer baking soda the same thing?

Best answer:

Answer by havingfun
Washing Soda is made up of Sodium carbonate also known as Carbonic acid disodium salt; Disodium carbonate; Soda ash; Sodium carbonate; Carbonic acid, disodium salt; Sodium carbonate.

This is not the same as baking soda or sodium bicarbonate which these are the same.
Other names for sodium bicarbonate are: Sodium bicarbonate; Carbonic acid monosodium salt; Baking soda; Bicarbonate of soda; Sodium bicarbonate (1:1); Sodium hydrogencarbonate

BTW – The BBC show How Clean is Your House is an awesome show. Love the cleaning tips they offer on each show.

Question by HotpinkKitties: What is the difference between a Vodka like Smirnoff and a Vodka like SKOL?
I notice the price difference with Smirnoff being higher, but what is another difference? Is it the taste? Smirnoff says their Vodka is triple distilled, what does that mean? Best answer gets 10 pts!

Best answer:

Answer by obviously_you’renotagolfer
Vodka is all about “purity”. Multiple distillations achieve greater purity because each time the spirit is distilled, more and more byproducts of the fermentation are left behind. This has lead to distillation craziness however as now there is 10X distilled vodka and probably there will be a 20X distilled in the future.

In reality, all vodka that doesn’t come in a plastic bottle is pretty darn good and definitely just fine for mixed drinks. Smirnoff is a classic popular since the mid 50′s, I think. If you drink your vodka straight and very cold (like you should) you have to have a pretty good imagination to claim there are any differences. The marketing is what hooks most people.

Don’t believe me. Buy some Smirnoff and any other “super premium” of your choice. Freeze both overnight. Try blind shots of both and see if you can tell which is which.

“Hints of citrus, berries, and pine” are all stupid descriptions too, because vodka by it’s very definition is supposed to be flavorless. If it tastes like all that stuff, there is probably something they did wrong.
