Chianti is NOT a cheaper red wine.

Chianti is a wine made in the northern part of italy. It is a regional wine, and it can range from fairly cheap to VERY EXPENSIVE depending on it's age and which vineyard it comes from.

Pinot Noir is a grape verity, many red wines are made from pinot noir because it's a small grape with a lot of skin, and it makes a very full bodies mellow wine. The actual grapes are no good for eating, they are quite sour.

Champagne actually has Pinot Noir in it.
